Accounts & Business Advisory – Senior (Making Tax Digital)
As an MTD Senior, you’ll oversee and review quarterly MTD and VAT submissions and end‑of‑year declarations. You’ll support junior staff and ensure compliance with UK tax regulations, while using technology and automation to drive quality, efficiency, and innovation within our newly formed team.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee and review preparation and submission of quarterly MTD Income Tax and VAT returns.
* Manage your client portfolio, supporting resource planning and delivery to MTD deadlines.
* Review work completed by junior team members and identify training needs.
* Ensure engagement terms remain up to date and reflect MTD scope.
* Use accounting and digital tools to streamline processes and improve accuracy.
* Develop a strong understanding of clients’ businesses, risks and objectives.
* Act as a second‑line client contact, resolving complex queries and escalations.
* Introduce fee conversations with support from senior management.
* Maintain strong technical knowledge of accounting and VAT, and train others.
* Champion automation and new technologies to improve quality and efficiency.
* Motivate, develop and support team members through effective delegation.
* Take ownership of decisions within the agreed remit and escalate appropriately.
* Deliver work within scope, timescales and recovery targets.
Qualifications & Experience
* Holds an accountancy and/or tax qualification (e.g., ATT) or is qualified by experience.
* Minimum of two years’ experience gained within an accountancy practice.

Making Tax Digital (MTD) is a UK Government initiative requiring individuals and businesses to keep digital financial records and submit tax information through HMRC approved software. Our team provides a dedicated, efficient service focused on digital accounting, compliance and high‑volume client delivery using cloud‑based tools. We operate within the wider ABAS (Accounts, Business Advisory Services) function, offering aligned development, support and progression opportunities.
