Job title: Principal Control & Instrumentation Engineer
Location: Coventry (minimum 2/3 days on-site per week). We offer flexible and hybrid working arrangements – please discuss options with your recruiter.
Salary: Negotiable depending on experience
What you’ll be doing:
1. Develop a functional design for the Vehicle Control solution for SSNA.
2. Coordinate with stakeholders to oversee the delivery of the vehicle control solution and strategy.
3. Support assurance activities in collaboration with the Office of the Chief Engineer.
4. Work with the engineering manager to deliver the vehicle control system, reporting progress via agile tools.
5. Ensure the engineering delivery plan is executed on schedule.
6. Guide the team on engineering methods and processes to meet project goals.
7. Develop technical solutions with the Engineering Delivery Team, fostering team development.
8. Engage with legacy stakeholders to develop solutions from baseline designs.
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
* Experience designing large-scale C&I systems meeting functional and industry standards.
* Knowledge of managing non-functional requirements like EMC and shock compliance.
* Proficiency in authoring/reviewing design documents such as I/O schedules and interface control documents.
* Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Physics, Maths, or Science.
Desirable:
* Understanding control system architecture and communication protocols (e.g., RS-485, PROFIBUS).
* Experience with IEC 61508 or similar functional safety standards.
* Experience with maneuvering systems across industries.
