We have an exciting opportunity for a Medical Secretary to join our Client Relationships Team at The London Clinic, based at our Head Office in London (NW1 4LJ). We offer a competitive salary.
Established in 1932, The London Clinic is one of the UK’s largest private hospitals, with 8 state-of-the-art facilities and approximately 1350 employees. We are dedicated to providing our patients with expert, individualized treatment and care. Our main hospital has 8 floors, over 150 patient beds, and 10 operating theatres, including a Hybrid theatre and two minimally invasive/day surgery theatres. Our specialties include General Surgery, ENT, Gynaecology, Hepatobiliary, Neuro-spinal, Ophthalmic, Orthopaedic, Plastic and Reconstructive, Robotic, Urology, Vascular, and Bariatric Surgery.
Job Profile
The Medical Secretary will play a key role in developing and supporting administrative services for Consultants at The London Clinic. Responsibilities include coordinating administrative needs, managing clinic pathways, and providing operational support. The role requires flexibility and a high level of service to patients and consultants.
* Job Type: 12-month Fixed Term Contract, Full-time
* Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week
* Location: Various sites around Harley Street, London
Key Duties
* Serve as the first point of contact for patients, relatives, GPs, clinic staff, and other professionals regarding the Consultant’s practice.
* Provide comprehensive administrative support to Consultants to develop their practice.
* Organize the Consultant’s workload, maintaining confidentiality and discretion at all times.
* Assist clinicians with queries about policies, procedures, systems, and administration, acting as a liaison with internal departments.
* Manage all correspondence for Consultants promptly, ensuring accurate documentation of patient notes, referrals, and appointments.
* Support the transfer of secretarial and administrative duties to staff appointed by the Consultant.
* Coordinate investigations, appointments, and inpatient stays with clinical and administrative staff, ensuring requests are fulfilled accurately.
Skills & Experience
* Experience in healthcare administration, preferably in a private practice setting.
* Strong patient-focused approach and customer service skills.
* Proficient secretarial and PA skills in a fast-paced environment.
* Ability to handle diverse workloads in administrative and clinical settings.
* Effective communication skills with diverse backgrounds and healthcare professionals.
