The Planning and Controls Lead role involves collaborating with stakeholders to define project aspects, providing clarity on milestones, and ensuring project outcomes align with available resources. The role includes managing project plans, schedules, tasks, interdependencies, and outputs, and monitoring progress throughout the project lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Providing effective leadership to the planning team, establishing standards, and promoting best practices in project planning. Building strong internal and external networks.
2. Applying advanced project planning knowledge to analyze risks, resolve issues, and identify opportunities.
3. Analyzing performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement, and selecting appropriate methods to address them.
4. Creating, maintaining, and owning planning processes, procedures, and standards.
5. Assessing future capacity and capability needs of the planning function and developing strategies to meet them.
6. Building and maintaining external networks to access best practices.
7. Providing expert advice and support to ensure successful project delivery, guiding project managers on planning approaches, tools, and processes, and enhancing planning capabilities.
8. Managing the Project Web App, including user access for all projects.
9. Overseeing new software proposals for compliance under NEC4, such as My Projects.
10. Contributing to and presenting at monthly meetings and project boards regarding CC&P inputs.
