Albany housing is a London based non-for-profit organisation aiming to prevent homelessness. We work closely with vulnerable and socially excluded individuals to help transform their lives. We have a great opportunity for A Tenancy Sustainment Support Worker to join our team and provide support to our residents in the Croydon & Merton area in view of them overcoming complex needs including mental health, drug and alcohol misuse.
You will be required to work with a multi-professional approach by conducting key working sessions and providing one-to-one support on a weekly basis. Key responsibilities will involve assisting with budgeting, overseeing maintenance repairs, liaising with external agencies, health and safety inspections and capturing your clients' goals within their support plans.
The clients in all our accommodations have various support needs which have acted as a barrier to entry when it comes to finding settled accommodation, applying for disability welfare benefits, obtaining job opportunities, accessing education and training programs, being able to access medical and holistic treatment as well as other free local services including mental health.
It is vital you understand that these clients are vulnerable and to exercise patience and restraint, as no two days are the same. You will be expected to make a real difference to the lives of our service users to improve their recovery and their communities in a dignified way.
In this role you will be required to provide a service for the clients and ensure they are housing ready at the housing staging post and once housing ready, you will explore move on options for the clients in order to sustain meaningful accommodation. You will need to be a good communicator, able to engage with people of all and backgrounds as well as external agencies as we work in a multi-agency way through interprofessional approaches.
To be successful, you will possess the ability to deliver sensitive, client-centred support and have the capability to implement action plans through high-quality risk and needs assessment. You will have sound knowledge and current understanding of safeguarding issues and an understanding of the needs of homeless individuals. Overall, you are a self-motivated, compassionate, hard working candidate with excellent communication skills.
The role is Monday to Friday where you will visit clients at their projects and will arrange to meet clients in the office for support sessions. Overtime shift are readily available.
The ideal candidate will be someone who has recent experience in a similar role working within the housing or vulnerable sector with a good understanding and awareness of the local services in order to be able to sign post and begin the referral process to help the clients.
You will be expected to manage a case load of up to 25 clients.
