Are you passionate about working with people and being part of their journey to find employment? We’re recruiting an Employment Specialist to join our team. The Employment Specialist is responsible for delivering against targets by working with customers to identify employment opportunities and support them into sustainable employment. You will manage a caseload of clients with disability and/or health support needs, providing person-centred guidance to help secure sustainable paid employment, while building positive relationships with referral partners and local employers.
Location: Bury St Edmunds
Hours: 37 hours a week. Monday to Thursday 8.30 am to 5pm, Friday 8.30 am to 4.30pm
Closing Date: 18 September 2025
Salary: £31,000 to £32,000 p.a. (dependent on experience)
Key Responsibilities
* Meet and strive to exceed personal performance targets, KPI and quality/compliance measures.
* Progressively manage a caseload of referred customers with disability and/or health support needs using appropriate strategies to overcome barriers to employment.
* Provide specialist support with awareness of learning disabilities, health support needs, and related self-development to customer groups.
* Undertake in-depth assessments to understand a customer’s circumstances, preferences and barriers to progression to employment.
* Co-produce personalised action plans with SMART targets to enable positive and timely progression.
* Utilise local specialist services to address issues (e.g. substance misuse, debt advice, health and vocational training).
* Apply social prescribing to develop and improve customer circumstances (e.g. healthy eating, smoking cessation, social groups).
* Collaborate with multiple agencies to develop holistic support; with consent undertake case conferences to optimise support packages.
* Understand the local labour market to source suitable job opportunities.
* Undertake direct marketing to employers via digital formats (email, LinkedIn, etc.).
* Identify employer recruitment needs and conduct tailored pre-screens and group assessments.
* Co-produce effective in-work support plans with participants and employers, including job carving where appropriate.
* Maintain health and safety awareness in customer workplaces and report issues as needed.
* Develop knowledge of local specialist signposting services (disabilities, housing, benefits, etc.).
* Maintain IT files and customer records to required compliance and quality standards.
* Work from local hubs and outreach locations to increase service accessibility.
Skills and Experience
* Good working knowledge of the local labour market in the specified locations.
* Experience of working with people with multiple and complex needs, particularly those with learning disabilities.
* IT literate with Microsoft Office 365 and Teams.
* Experience of working in a target-driven environment and delivering services to meet contractual and quality standards.
* Knowledge of the employability or recruitment industry; understanding of supported employment opportunities and related frameworks (IPS/SEQF).
* Experience in advice and guidance environments.
* Full driving license to enable deployment across a geographical area when required.
