Hutchison Ports – Port of Felixstowe is the UK’s largest deep water container port and a major gateway for global trade. As our Customer Service Co‑ordinator, you will be a central point of contact for hauliers, shipping lines, and internal teams, managing enquiries across multiple channels and supporting the smooth, safe and efficient flow of operations across the Yard and wider port.
This role is vital for maintaining fluid Yard operations along with managing our Container Booking System, to guiding drivers, resolving complex issues, and ensuring every interaction is handled professionally, you’ll help keep our customers moving while upholding operational excellence, safety and service consistency.
With your experience in high‑pressure customer service environments, you’ll confidently support real‑time operations, collaborate across departments, and play a key role in maintaining service continuity within a dynamic, 24/7 operational setting.
This role requires flexibility, as cover is needed across both day and night shifts, including weekends. Shift coverage is shared across the Customer Service Co‑ordinator team through a rotating shift pattern.

Role Overview
Key responsibilities:
· Act as the focal point for all special/critical cargo moves, including, but not limited to hazardous cargo, escorted loads, high value, direct discharge and leaking containers.
· Work collaboratively with Service Delivery and operational teams to consistently achieve haulier service levels and maintain a fluid Yard operation in line with the wider operational plan.
· Manage the Port’s Customer Service helpdesk, handling all external and internal enquiries efficiently and professionally across email, telephone, live chat and in person.
· Manage the Port’s Container Booking System (CBS), controlling CBS parameters to maximise haulier efficiency through the strategic deployment of extra CBS bookings, when required.
· Monitor yard volumes, allocations and haulage wait times using nGen and CBS, adjusting as required to minimise dwell times and maintain a fluid Yard operation.
· Work closely with internal departments when required, such as Customer Service Support, Port Police, Operations and Planning teams.
· Managing live bookings during adverse weather, liaising with the relevant onsite Operational Management or Supervisors to ensure Health and Safety protocols are then adhered to.
What you need:
· At least 1 year customer service experience (preferably within a container/ logistics/ haulage industry).
· The ability to offer exemplary Customer Service under pressure within a fast paced and pressurised environment.
· Excellent IT skills as you will be expected to manage multiple internal systems.
· Excellent communication skills (Both verbal and written).
· Be able to negotiate and influence at all levels within the Container Division and key customers and suppliers.
· Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
· Working knowledge of Destin8 (Desirable)
· Understanding of container/ logistics/ haulage industry.
