The Vale Youth Service is a part of the Learning and Skills Directorate of the Vale of Glamorgan Council. We support young people aged 11-25 through informal and non-formal educational opportunities to support them in achieving their full potential. About the role
Job Role: Youth Engagement Worker
Pay Details: JNC Point 12, £29,791(pro rata), £15.44ph
Notice: For those with a recognised Youth Work qualification which are reflected in the different skills and competencies for the role.
Alternative Job Role:Assistant Youth Engagement Worker
Pay Details: JNC Point 9, £26,954 (pro rata), £13.97ph
Notice: For those not holding a Youth Work qualification.
Hours of Work / Working Pattern: 3 hours per week (evening 5.30-8.30pm), 40 weeks. This includes term time working and some of the summer holidays (from September 2025) but accommodates a flexible working pattern.
Main Place of Work: In youth provisions located across the Vale of Glamorgan but you will be able to share transport, use Council’s pool cars and/or claim travel expenses.
Temporary Reason: This is a temporary employment due to grant funding.
Description: The Universal team provides informal and non-formal opportunities to young people aged 11-25 across the Vale of Glamorgan to support them in achieving their full potential. We provide safe environments for young people to enjoy themselves and meet others; feel valued; access information and support; and learn new skills. This service is managed by the Vale Youth Service and is situated in the Learning and Skills department. In return the successful candidate will be able to access the Teachers’ Pension Scheme, staff benefits and the opportunity to join groups such as GLAM LGBTQ+ network for colleagues and allies.
About you
You will need:
1. An awareness of issues affecting young people.
2. Ability to create resources or materials that support youth activities.
3. Have good verbal communication skills.
4. Desirable to have experience of working with children and/or young people.
