What Is the Opportunity?
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Consulting Technology Engineer specializing in design, deployment, maintenance and support of Travelers’ Wide Area Networks to join our network team in Redhill, Surrey.
As a consulting technology engineer, you will be responsible for managing network connectivity services for Travelers’ Wide Area Network backbone, SD-WAN environment, offshore and onshore field offices, cloud network infrastructure, inter-business and cloud exchange colocation connections and on-prem workloads in UK & North America data centers. Responsibilities include designing, configuring, deploying, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining network components with a focus on code-based management to support connectivity for 30,000+ employees and partners, delivering enhancements, supporting cloud network foundation, and providing hands-on support locally in UK data centers or offices as needed.
Operating as a Team Lead, you will demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of engineering support, installation, and operations of infrastructure technologies, managing projects and resources, and developing solutions involving multiple platforms and technologies. You will also participate in designing network topology, routing, switching, and security solutions. The role requires multitasking in a dynamic environment.
Travelers Europe offers flexibility for hybrid work in accordance with our Hybrid Work Arrangements Policy, typically three days in the office and two days remote. This policy may be adjusted at the company's discretion.

What Will You Do?
* Design, engineer, analyze, configure, and troubleshoot WAN, cloud, and on-prem network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, SD-WAN, and network protocols.
* Implement network solutions supporting various environments: Cloud VPNs, Global WAN, Data Center fabric, remote/offshore offices, Internet/DMZ, B2B connections.
* Maintain network service quality, monitor hardware/software, and respond promptly to issues.
* Provide local support in London and occasional travel to UK offices.
* Support troubleshooting at third level, build partnerships across teams, proactively identify improvements, and document infrastructure.
* Collaborate with business units to develop technology solutions, research new technologies, and present findings to management, including C-level executives.
* Manage multiple projects, ensure best practices, security, and quality protocols, and participate in on-call support rotation.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
* Experience in technology and as a technical lead preferred.
* Advanced knowledge of network, database, server, and storage technologies preferred.
* Experience with cloud services (AWS, GCP), Cisco networking, automation scripting (Terraform, Python, REST API, Rundeck), and network management tools.
* Knowledge of telecommunications (MPLS, Optical Networks), WAN, LAN, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), VxLAN, NFV, IPv4, QoS, Traffic Profiling, Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity, High Availability.
Must Have:
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience, with 5+ years in technology. Alternatively, a Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience.
