Job Title: Principal Structural Engineer Start Date: 1st September 2025 Type: Contract (12 months, likely to be ongoing) Day Rate: £55–£60 per hour Ltd (subject to an IR35 assessment confirming outside status) Hours: 40 hours per week Location: Stretford, Manchester (hybrid working model) Ideally 3 days per week in the office, 2 days from home Some flexibility available Candidates must live within a commutable distance to Manchester Occasional site visits (travel expenses paid) About the Role We are looking for a Principal Structural Engineer (ideally chartered MISTRUCTE or MICE) to lead and deliver structural design solutions across water sector projects, specifically for water treatment plants for utility companies. You will work on projects under AMP8, including: Design of water retaining structures Foundations and structural works for water treatment equipment Retaining wall designs for sewage treatment works upgrades You will ensure design deliverables meet safety, quality, and industry standards, provide technical guidance, and mentor a team of engineers, CAD technicians, and graduates. Candidates must be able to carry out design calculations for reinforced concrete and steelwork.
