Role Purpose
To carry out a broad range of functions under the Town and Country Planning Acts and other related legislation relating to the production and implementation of planning policy documents. To support the Head of Strategic Service and Local Plan Manager and the team to strengthen the council’s plan-making, place-making and infrastructure planning processes.
Responsibilities
1. Assist in ensuring the Local Plan Team fulfils the commitments, mission and objectives of Planning Services and the Council as a whole.
2. Ensure that all procedures are followed and that all targets are met.
3. Be acquainted with the various Acts relating to the Council's statutory responsibilities regarding planning matters, including relevant legislation, orders, circulars, and policies.
4. Stay updated with changes in legislation and Government advice, and implement necessary changes to practice and procedures.
5. Maintain a customer-oriented approach, fostering good relations with stakeholders and local interest groups, including Forums, where required.
6. Assist with the work of the Local Plan team, including the preparation, implementation, and monitoring of the Local Plan and other planning policy publications.
7. Support the preparation of evidence base documents, assist senior officers with external commissions, and help draft planning policies and guidance.
Requirements
* Town Planning or relevant degree or equivalent experience.
* Knowledge and experience of processes involved in the preparation and adoption of effective Local Plans.
* Ability to work and adapt in a changing policy, economic, and organizational environment.
* A full driving licence and ability to be mobile around the Borough.
Contract
* Initial 3 to 6 months contract.
* PAYE via Umbrella.
* Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm.
