HR Advisor - Mat Cover (9 month FTC) at AAB
Location: Glasgow (2-3 days on-site, with occasional UK travel)

Role
HR Advisor (Maternity Cover - 9 months). Based in Glasgow, you’ll partner with managers across the business, working closely with our HR Business Partners and HR Coordinators to provide high-quality, people-focused HR support. You’ll be a trusted advisor to managers, helping them to build engagement and performance in their teams, while ensuring our policies and processes are applied consistently and fairly.
What You’ll Be Doing
Employee Relations & Advisory Support
* Provide up-to-date HR guidance to managers on policies, procedures, and best practice.
* Deliver proactive and commercial employee relations advice and support (e.g. disciplinary, grievance, capability), escalating to the HR Business Partner where required.
* Advise managers on sickness absence management, supporting return-to-work meetings and occupational health referrals.
* Act as a coach and trusted advisor to first-line leaders, equipping them to engage and manage their teams effectively.
Policy, Process & Projects
* Ensure central HR policies, processes, and initiatives are effectively communicated and applied across the business.
* Lead improvements to our onboarding and induction process, working with business leaders and HR Coordinators to deliver a first-class experience for new joiners.
* Create and maintain employee lifecycle templates to support consistent, high-quality HR administration.
* Contribute to national HR projects, including line management upskilling, process reviews, and work focused on enhancing the employee experience.
Employee Experience & Engagement
* Conduct exit interviews with departing employees, providing feedback and insights to business leaders and HRBPs.
* Build effective relationships across the business, promoting good employee relations and a positive working environment.
* Contribute to engagement and well-being initiatives, drawing on feedback from surveys and exit interviews.
HR Data & Reporting
* Compile quarterly reports covering new joiners, leavers, attrition, and exit themes.
* Analyse people data to identify trends and make recommendations for improvement.
* Provide support and guidance to HR Coordinators in relation to data and reporting.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
* An experienced HR Advisor (or equivalent) with strong generalist knowledge and confidence in employee relations.
* Skilled in interpreting and applying UK employment law in a practical, solutions-focused way.
* Confident presenting to groups to support with upskilling across the business.
* A strong communicator who can build trusted relationships at all levels.
* Comfortable working with data and able to draw meaningful insights to support decision-making.
* Proactive, organised, and adaptable, able to balance day-to-day advisory work with project delivery.
