Hours: 21 hours per week (0.6 FTE)
Location: 29-31 Montgomery Street, Belfast
Campaign Service/Cause: Volunteering
Remuneration: £25,476 - £27,919 Pro-rata
Overall Purpose of Post
The Volunteer Engagement Co-Ordinator is responsible for volunteer retention and co-ordination across the organisation. The role will ensure adherence to our data management strategy, effective monitoring, evaluation, and learning processes. The postholder will facilitate volunteer recruitment, induction, and support, contributing to service development and promoting good practice in service delivery, evaluation, and quality assurance, working closely with Service Leads & SMT.
Key Responsibilities
Volunteer Co-ordination
* Refine volunteer recruitment strategies to meet organisational needs.
* Oversee the volunteer database and maintain it effectively.
* Match volunteer skills and abilities to projects, track and report on activities.
* Process Access NI checks for relevant volunteers.
* Ensure role descriptions, induction, training, and evaluation are current.
* Organise and deliver training as needed.
* Develop new volunteer initiatives.
* Promote the service locally and in the wider community.
* Build and maintain links with other agencies to raise awareness.
* Implement activities to promote volunteer retention and recognition.
* Maintain communication with volunteers and report on activities and impact.
* Stay updated on best practices in volunteer management.
* Support policy reviews and ensure compliance with regulations and best practices.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning
* Develop monitoring, evaluation, and learning processes for volunteer services.
* Assess outcomes and develop case studies to capture volunteer experiences.
* Coordinate and disseminate volunteer satisfaction surveys.
* Align evaluation processes with funding requirements.
Quality Assurance and Development
* Assist in reviewing and developing volunteer policies and procedures.
* Maintain standards for volunteer management and recommend improvements.
* Promote diversity and an inclusive environment.
Data and Information Management
* Follow reporting mechanisms for data collection and management.
* Gather evidence to inform service provision, fundraising, and communication.
* Analyze statistics and ensure GDPR compliance.
External Relationships
* Build and develop stakeholder relationships.
* Attend external meetings as Cancer Focus NI lead for volunteer engagement.
* Develop new partnerships with statutory, voluntary, and private sectors.
General
* Work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Represent and promote Cancer Focus NI and its objectives.
* Promote existing services.
* Perform other duties as required.
* Willingness to undertake training, including safeguarding.
* Flexible working hours, including evenings and weekends.

Person Specification
Essential criteria include experience in delivering training, organizing events, managing people or volunteers, relevant qualifications, excellent communication skills, organizational skills, IT proficiency, teamwork, independence, adaptability, empathy, commitment to values, and a valid driving license with access to transport.
Desirable criteria include experience in health and social care, community engagement, developing training programs, involving volunteers, and relevant management qualifications.
