Grounds Maintenance Operative

Bridgnorth Town Council has a full time, permanent position available within their existing team.
\n
\n
The Town Council have high aspirations for the delivery of its services and working with its community and partners to deliver an exciting future for its residents, visitors and businesses.
\n
Some of the main duties of the role include:
\n
1. To undertake horticultural maintenance duties including but not exclusive to:
\n
\n
* Grass cutting using a range of pedestrian and ride-on equipment;
\n
* Shrub/rose bed maintenance;
\n
\n
2. To undertake a range of grounds maintenance duties including but not exclusive to:
\n
\n
* Riverbank maintenance
\n
* Highway verges maintenance
\n
\n
3. To conduct inspections and carry out basic and routine maintenance on Town Council owned or maintenance assets / property including but not exclusive to:
\n
\n
* Play area equipment
\n
* Street furniture
\n
* Fences
\n
\n
4. To use a wide range of plant and equipment, handheld tools including but not exclusive
\n
5. To undertake routine maintenance of tools and machinery.
\n
6. To water the Town Council floral displays on a rota basis during the summer months
\n
and will involve early starts.
The successful candidate will have the following:
\n
\n
* Experience in using and driving vehicles and machinery
\n
* Experience and knowledge of using a range of handheld tools
\n
* Experience and ability to work to strict deadlines and under pressure
\n
* Experience and confidence in lone working situations and using own initiative
\n
* Experience of working in horticultural / grounds maintenance environment
\n
* Experience of working with the public and communities
\n
\n
