About the role
Join NHS Borders as a Clinical Chemistry scientist at Borders General Hospital. The role involves 24/7 shift work after competencies are completed.
Qualifications and requirements
* HCPC registered
* Post- registration experience in Clinical Chemistry
* Completed or at least half‑way through IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Clinical Chemistry (or Blood Sciences) or equivalent
* Self‑motivated and enthusiastic
* Ability to work 24/7 shift pattern after competencies
* Strong commitment to NHS values: Care and Compassion, Quality and Teamwork, Dignity and Respect, Openness, honesty and responsibility
* Legal right to work in the UK or eligibility for sponsorship
* Will be subject to the Protecting Vulnerable Groups scheme if regulated role
* Conforms to new criminal records check requirements from 1 April 2025 if applicable
* Will work within the new Agenda for Change 36‑hour week from 1 April 2026 and will be paid at the adjusted hourly rate

Responsibilities
* Perform clinical chemistry analytical work on a 24/7 shift pattern following full competency training
* Maintain high quality standards and support the Laboratory team
* Contribute to the efficient operation of the Clinical Chemistry laboratory
