About the Role
Reed Education is recruiting a dedicated and inspiring Year 1 Teacher to join a friendly and supportive primary school in Scunthorpe after the Easter break. This full-time role is ideal for a practitioner with strong phonics expertise who is committed to building solid early learning foundations for young pupils.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking a teacher who can confidently deliver high-quality teaching to Year 1 pupils, with a particular focus on early reading and phonics development. The successful candidate will have:
* Strong knowledge and experience of delivering Read Write Inc. (RWI) Phonics, with the ability to follow the programme with fidelity.
* A proven ability to support pupils in achieving age-related outcomes, particularly in reading, phonics, and early literacy.
* A nurturing yet structured approach, creating a supportive environment that encourages curiosity, independence, and progress.
* Strong assessment skills, using ongoing observation and tracking to inform teaching and intervention.
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and relevant classroom experience within KS1.
Key Responsibilities
* Planning and teaching engaging, well-structured lessons aligned with the Year 1 curriculum.
* Delivering Read Write Inc. Phonics sessions effectively and consistently.
* Monitoring pupil progress and implementing targeted support where needed.
* Encouraging positive learning behaviours and developing key early years skills.
* Working collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high standards across the key stage.
