The Strategic Procurement Team also provides procurement services to external clients, including District and Borough Councils.
Opportunity
A rare opportunity has arisen to join the Procurement Management Team at Nottinghamshire County Council. We are seeking to recruit a Category Manager to lead and manage the Adults and Public Health department as part of an award-winning and proactive procurement team.
Role and Responsibilities
1. Plan, drive, and deliver collaboration and effective stakeholder management.
2. Embed and apply best practice commercial and procurement approaches to external and in-house spend.
3. Support and challenge across the procurement lifecycle to deliver value for money outcomes.
The successful candidate will have excellent stakeholder management skills, a positive attitude, and extensive public sector strategic and operational procurement experience, including knowledge of category management, sourcing methodologies, and conflict resolution.
Candidate Profile
The ideal applicant will be a procurement professional with broad public sector experience, capable of managing high-value and complex tenders. They will be technically competent, experienced in delivering complex projects, and able to work effectively with various stakeholders both inside and outside the Council. Knowledge of social care and health services is essential.
Qualifications and Knowledge
Applicants should possess detailed knowledge of local government procurement regulations, be able to provide technical advice, and guide team members through procurement complexities. Up-to-date knowledge of the new Procurement Regulations is required. A passion for sustainability and social value, balanced with innovation and regulatory compliance, is essential.
