From delivering large programs of work for social housing providers to ensuring the highest building safety standards, we provide a range of services for public sector clients.
Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for all design and technical aspects of projects, ensuring delivery on budget and to schedule. This includes managing external consultants effectively and communicating with the wider United Living team and business partners.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Leading technical and design processes, managing design teams and subcontractors throughout project phases to ensure timely and budget-compliant delivery.
2. Managing technical design aspects to meet company targets, focusing on quality, cost-effectiveness, and buildability.
3. Reviewing and contributing to bids, conducting technical appraisals, and assessing design quality, compliance, and value engineering opportunities.
4. Producing and managing project-specific design programmes and progress reports.
5. Overseeing procurement of design consultants and subcontractors, ensuring their competency and managing fees and invoicing.
6. Fulfilling roles such as CDM Principal Designer and Building Regulations Principal Design, ensuring compliance and safety.
7. Reviewing and coordinating design packages, ensuring full coordination across disciplines including fire safety, structures, M&E, facades, and internal specifications.
8. Managing design changes, site visits, and technical meetings to ensure project alignment and quality.
9. Ensuring proper documentation, approvals, and handover information are maintained and compliant with regulations.
10. Upholding health, safety, and environmental policies, promoting a safety-first culture.
Qualifications
* Proactive management style with thorough technical knowledge.
* Strong leadership, communication, and coordination skills.
* Experience in managing design and technical processes for residential projects.
* Up-to-date knowledge of construction legislation, safety regulations, and industry standards.
* Valid driving license and proficiency with CAD (AutoCAD/Revit) and BIM.
* Membership in professional bodies such as CIOB, CIAT, or RICS is preferred.
