Overview

Due to a Partner retiring, Montpelier Health Centre is seeking a new full equity partner to join and lead our practice team. We are based in Montpelier, central Bristol, a diverse and eclectic area and serve approximately 20000 patients. You could be an established Partner, Salaried GP or locum we will wait for the right person. You will need to be flexible, a problem solver, creative, a team leader, organised, interested in change management but above all have a vision and be committed to building a career in General Practice.

Main duties of the job

As a GP Partner, you will contribute to the clinical leadership of the practice, working with the Management team to ensure we are a respected and high performing practice delivering excellent quality of care.


About us

The partnership is responsible for Montpelier Health Centre, a PMS Practice, in inner city Bristol which has a diverse population of approximately 20000 patients. The CQC rating is Good.

We work out of two buildings on the same site, one of which we own which is modern and well maintained, with Montpelier Health Centre being leased from NHS Property Services.

The practice works collaboratively within their Primary Care Network, Bristol and Inner City PCN (BIC).

Job responsibilities

The main clinical duties are to:

* be available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence as required.
* make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
* screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
* cover all the clinical management of the patients in surgery as appropriate including initiating investigations, reviewing results, making referrals to secondary care or to other providers as appropriate
* develop care and treatment plans in consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols as well wider guidance such as that from NICE
* ensure appropriate follow up of patients
* record clear and contemporaneous computerised consultation notes to agreed standards
* collect data for audit purposes
* prescribe in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary, NICE guidance and Good Prescribing Practice (as defined by British National Formulary guidance)
* Work with and support other members of the primary health care team in delivering high quality primary care
* Play a lead role in the practice based on strengths and interests.


Person Specification

Qualifications - Essential

* Qualified GP
* GMC full registration with a licence to practice
* Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent
* Membership of recognised defence union
* MRCGP
* Currently on a Performers list
* Never been removed from a Performers list for a detrimental reason
* A demonstrable commitment to professional development
* An understanding of the importance of evidence-based practice and clinical effectiveness
* Evidence of recent self-directed learning or development

Desirable

* Leadership experience in a clinical environment
* Experience in Human Resources, Finance, or business
* EMIS Web experience
* AccuRX experience
* Experience in supervision or training
