At Hambleton Steel, we design, fabricate, and erect structural steel for some of the UK's most exciting construction projects, from large-scale commercial and industrial developments to schools and MSCP.
Our clients rely on us for precision, quality, and reliability. To keep everything running smoothly, we're looking for a highly organised Document Controller to make sure the right information gets to the right people, at the right time.
The role
As our Document Controller, you'll play a vital role in the successful delivery of projects by managing the flow of drawings, specifications, contracts, and technical documents between our internal teams, clients, and contractors.
This is a role where attention to detail really matters. You'll ensure that everyone, from contracts managers to site teams and clients, has the latest approved information.
What You'll Be Doing
Working alongside and taking direction from Contracts Managers.
Coordinating project information.
Record keeping of project information, hard copies and digitally.
Update Load tracker and drawing vault.
Drawing distribution to works and sites
RFI (Requests for Information) submittals and recording.
Co-ordinating Hambleton steel drawings signed off for construction.
Responsibilities
Co-ordinating drawings models between draughtsmen/client/engineer/architects.
Management of contracts server and paper-based drawing files.
Update Load tracker.
Managing RFIs (Requests for Information) for all contracts, average of 100+ per project via client portals.
Getting projects approved construction via workflows, aka the approval - comment – construction process.
Co-ordination of all construction related documents for all projects
About you
What We're Looking For
Experience in a document control or project administration role (ideally in construction or engineering).
Excellent organisation and accuracy; you'll be the person others rely on for "the right version."
Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office essential; knowledge of document management systems desirable).
A confident communicator who can work with colleagues at all levels, as well as clients and contractors.
A proactive, solution-focused approach and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
