Purpose of the role
The Material Efficiency Tools Manager is responsible for designing, deploying, and optimizing digital tools and data-driven strategies to enhance procurement, supply chain and logistics material efficiency across MRO operations within IAG and airlines (British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus, Vueling, LEVEL). This role ensures end-to-end visibility, cost control, and operational reliability by leveraging systems such as AMOS, SAP S/4HANA, and AI-driven analytics to optimize inventory, reduce waste, and improve supplier performance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Material Efficiency Strategy
o Define and implement a group‑wide material efficiency framework across all IAG airlines.
o Drive inventory optimization strategies (pooling, repair vs replaces, interchangeability).
o Identify and eliminate material waste, overstocking, and obsolescence risks.
o Align procurement strategy with fleet plans (retirements, inductions, engine programs).
2. Digital Tools & Systems Ownership
o Lead development and optimization of material efficiency tools integrated with AMOS (MRO & maintenance planning) and SAP S/4HANA (procurement & contract management).
o Understand the implementation of AI/ML models for demand forecasting, predictive material consumption, and stock rebalancing across hubs and outstations.
o Ensure effective data integration between AMOS, SAP, AI, and supplier systems.
3. Inventory & Supply Chain Optimization
o Propose and support a transformation toward a centralized inventory model across IAG hubs.
o Define improvements in turn rates, service levels (fill rate / AOG response), and inventory carrying cost.
o Lead smart routing and pooling strategies for spare parts management and support inter‑airline stock transfers within IAG OPCO procedures.
4. Contract & Supplier Performance Optimization
o Master SAP contract management features to support procurement, supply chain, and logistics to detect contract leakage and align invoices with contractual scope.
o Understand PBH (Power‑by‑the‑Hour) and MRO agreements based on usage data.
o Collaborate with IAG Procurement and airline procurement to improve supplier metrics: lead times, repair turnaround times (TAT), and cost efficiency.
5. Data Analytics & KPI Management
o Propose, define, and track key KPIs such as inventory turnover, material availability/fill rate, AOG cost impact, repair vs scrap ratio, and forecast accuracy.
o Build interactive dashboards for real‑time decision‑making.
o Translate data into actionable procurement strategies.
6. Cross‑Functional Collaboration
o Partner with Engineering & Fleet Planning for maintenance schedules & retirements.
o Partner with Finance to align cost optimization and CAPEX/OPEX.
o Partner with IT/Data teams for system integration & AI deployment.
o Act as a bridge between procurement, MRO operations, and digital teams.
7. Continuous Improvement & Innovation
o Lead transformation initiatives in digital twins for aircraft/material planning, automation of procurement workflows, and predictive maintenance‑driven procurement.
o Drive ProcureTech adoption with measurable ROI.
