<div><h3>Joining Our Team</h3><p>The Youth Justice Worker will support the safety and wellbeing of children and young people in custody, providing day to day assistance and interventions as required.</p><h3>Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Ensure the security and safety of children and young people while providing day to day support in a custodial setting.</li><li>Conduct interventions when required, oversee and facilitate safe movement around the site, and provide supervision to ensure safety.</li><li>Identify and assess the complex needs of the children and young people you work with.</li><li>Collaborate with young people, families or carers to agree on interventions or referrals that support their needs.</li><li>Handle interventions when necessary, including de escalating situations, managing behavioural issues and applying conflict resolution techniques.</li><li>Approach work with respectful curiosity, balancing challenge and support to help young people reach their potential and stay safe.</li><li>Work closely with other professionals and organisations to collectively improve outcomes.</li><li>Exercise sound judgement, using evidence based approaches to inform practice and continuously evaluate effectiveness.</li><li>Participate in regular supervision with an experienced practitioner to reflect on and improve practice.</li></ul><h3>Essential Skills & Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Strong communication and influencing skills.</li><li>Commitment to high standards of care and service.</li><li>Empathy and understanding.</li><li>Effective decision making abilities.</li><li>Ability to work with diverse backgrounds and complex needs.</li><li>Strong problem solving skills.</li><li>Pass required DBS check.</li></ul><h3>Eligibility and Requirements</h3><ul><li>Be at least 18 years old at the time of commencement.</li><li>Meet Civil Service nationality requirements and have the legal right to live and work in the UK.</li><li>Pass a medical and fitness assessment.</li><li>Meet the required eyesight standard in both eyes (with or without corrective lenses).</li><li>Have suitable hearing standards (no hearing aids).</li></ul><h3>Salary</h3><ul><li>37 hours a week: £33,746 per year.</li><li>39 hours a week: £35,875 per year.</li><li>41 hours a week: £38,003 per year.</li></ul><h3>Benefits</h3><ul><li>25 days annual holiday (rising to 30 days after 10 years of service).</li><li>Paid time off for public holidays and one extra privilege day.</li><li>Civil Service pension with employer contributions of 28.97%.</li><li>Cycle to work scheme, travel loans and other benefits.</li></ul></div>
