We are seeking a talented and driven Mechanical Design Engineer to join a hardware engineering team developing advanced mechanical and electrical systems for cutting-edge flight simulators. This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-performance aerospace products that help shape the future of aviation training and safety.
The role will suit a hands-on engineer with strong mechanical design experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work across multi-disciplinary teams in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. You will play a key part in designing, developing, testing, and delivering robust hardware solutions that meet demanding performance and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead or support the design and development of mechanical hardware solutions for flight simulators, ensuring they meet customer and industry requirements.
* Create detailed technical specifications, models, and drawings for mechanical and electrical systems.
* Work closely with systems, software, and project teams to deliver integrated solutions.
* Carry out testing, validation, and troubleshooting to ensure performance, reliability, and compliance.
* Support the evaluation of new technologies and materials to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
* Engage with suppliers to source and integrate mechanical and electrical components.
* Support or lead project delivery to time, budget, and quality expectations.
What We’re Looking For
* Degree-level qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
* Proven experience in mechanical hardware design and development.
* Ability to perform hand calculations and use analytical design tools, including FEA, to verify structural adequacy.
* Experience producing technical drawings, calculation packs, and supporting design reviews.
* CAD experience with tools such as Creo/Pro-E or CATIA V5 would be a distinct advantage.
* Familiarity with PLM tools such as Windchill or Teamcentre would also be beneficial.
* Strong problem-solving skills and experience in testing, validation, and hardware troubleshooting.
* Confident working within multi-disciplinary teams and communicating effectively at all levels.
* Flight simulation, avionics, or aerospace experience is highly desirable, although we will also consider transferable experience from automotive, wind energy, or other similar industries.
