Calling all Maths tutors in Rochdale!
I am helping a school in the area organise year 11 Maths tuition sessions for groups of 3 children on school premises. You will be allocated a room in which groups of 3 children will rotate hourly. School staff will be on hand to help with initial induction and any other questions you may have afterwards.
The need is for you to cover Monday to Friday between 8:50am and 3pm, however, tutors who are able to deliver less days and hours are encouraged to apply. These sessions are to last until the exams, however, we have strong roots in the area, partnering with a multitude of schools so once you are registered with us, you will have access to all our other bookings too!
Responsibilities:
As a Tutor your primary purpose is to provide personalised academic support and guidance to students, fostering a positive and engaging learning environment. This role is crucial in helping students develop a strong foundation in Maths, laying the groundwork for their academic success. While the specific responsibilities may vary based on the subject and level of education, the core duties of a tutor generally include:
1. Designing and implementing effective lesson plans tailored to the individual needs and learning styles of the student
2. Delivering instruction in Maths, ensuring alignment with the relevant curriculum standards
3. Conducting assessments to identify students' strengths, weaknesses, and learning gaps
4. Fostering a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages students to ask questions and seek clarification
5. Regularly assessing and tracking students' progress to gauge the effectiveness of interventions
6. Developing and curating educational materials, resources, and tools to enhance the learning experience
7. Utilising a variety of teaching aids, technology, and interactive activities to make lessons engaging and effective
8. Modifying teaching methods and strategies to accommodate diverse learning needs and styles
9. Collaborating with teachers to align tutoring sessions with classroom instruction and support overall academic development
Person Specification:
10. Teaching qualification is preferred, however, if you have extensive tutoring UK curriculum, please do not hesitate to apply!
11. Current Knowledge of the National Curriculum
12. Effective communication skills
13. Ability to convey complex concepts in a way that is easily understood by the student
14. Ability to adapt your communication style to match the individual's learning preferences
15. Ability to remain calm, encouraging, and understanding, allowing students the time they need to grasp new ideas
16. Ability to inspire and motivate students to foster a positive attitude toward learning
17. An empathetic nature that shows understanding of the challenges and pressures students face, creating a supportive and compassionate learning environment
