We are looking for a friendly and caring individual to join our Team. You will already be a Healthcare Assistant, ideally working in general practice with experience of EMIS.
This is a varied role where the successful candidate will be given training and support to enable them to carry out their role successfully.
This role is full-time Monday - Friday.

Main duties of the job
* Support Doctors/Nurse in the implementation of individualised care and therapy programmes for patients.
* Respond to patient queries and requests for assistance from patients and other visitors to the surgery.
* Support the GP(s) smooth running of clinics by performing routine administration and clinical tasks, freeing up time to focus on patients.
* Sorting all clinical post and prioritising for the GP in terms of actions, signposting some post to others such as clinical pharmacist.
* Extracting all information from clinical letters that needs coding and adding to notes.
* Arranging appointments, referrals, tests and follow up appointments of patients.
* Completing basic (non-opinion) forms and core elements of some forms for the GP to approve and sign such as insurance forms, mortgage, benefits agency forms.
* Explaining treatment procedures to patients.
* Helping the GP liaise with outside agencies (e.g., getting an on‑call doctor on the phone to ask advice or arrange admission while the GP can continue with their consultation).
* Supporting the GP with immunisations/wound care.
* Venepuncture.
* Blood pressure recording.
* Administer influenza, pneumococcal, shingles, B12 vaccines.
* Collection of specimens as directed, urinalysis, height and weight measurement.
* 24 Hr blood pressure monitoring, spirometry, peak flow measurements, nebulising.
* Performing ECG and recording.
* Basic wound care including 2‑layer bandaging; removal of sutures/clips.
* Assistance in the minor operating suite.
* Clinical fridge maintenance & cold chain.
* Smoking cessation and other health promotion activities.
* Assist in routine child health surveillance.
* Assist in chronic disease clinics, including monitoring inhaler technique and foot pulses.
* Perform NHS Health Checks and new patient checks.
* Support delivery of clinical Quality & Outcomes Framework and PCF.
* Answer the telephone, receive and transmit messages.
* Filing forms, arranging patient appointments.
* Support the practice with infection control.
* Liaise with other health care professionals.
* Ordering of equipment and other supplies; filing and record keeping; managing and rotating clinical supplies in all clinical rooms.
* Support other health care professionals in various chronic disease management clinics.
* Record appropriate information in patient‑held records, clinic records and the practice computer system to comply with legal and professional requirements.
* Maintain confidentiality at all times.
* Manage stock itinerary for the practice.
* Comply with all appropriate practice policies, clinical practices and protocols, health and safety fire regulations, and report incidents to relevant colleagues as soon as practical.

We have 5 GPs, a Practice Nurse, HCAs and an admin team.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* GCSE (or equivalent) grade A to C in English and Maths.
* Qualified to NVQ level 2 – 3 in Health and Social Care.
* Have worked within a Primary Care setting.
* Have worked on EMIS.
Experience
* Experience of working within a nursing team.
* Experience working in a GP practice.
