Our client is a specialist Financial Services organisation with global footprint and a growing presence in Manchester. Thet are currently seeking a IT Risk Manager to support the organisations IT and Ops Risk Management Programme.
This newly created position offers you the chance to work in a high-profile role, driving best practice across IT & Operations within a global financial services organization. You'll work closely with senior stakeholders, risk teams, and technology leads in the UK and internationally to embed a strong risk culture, develop metrics and reporting, and influence strategic decisions.
The Opportunity
This is a rare chance to join at the very start of a function's journey in the UK. You'll act as the first line of defense for IT & Operations risk, working in partnership with the global risk team based in the US. The role combines strategic influence with hands-on delivery, giving you the scope to design and implement governance processes, reporting frameworks, and risk management practices that will set the standard going forward.
What You'll Be Doing
* Delivering first-line risk assessments, profiling, scenario analysis, and reporting for IT & Operations.
* Building and implementing risk metrics, reporting processes, and governance frameworks.
* Partnering with the three lines of defence, internal audit, and other risk functions to align strategies.
* Acting as a trusted advisor on IT & Operational risk to business leaders and technology teams.
* Engaging stakeholders at all levels to drive risk awareness and adoption of best practices.
* Supporting the creation of education and training materials to embed a risk-aware culture.
* Providing input into the development of a roadmap for IT & Operations risk into 2026.
What We're Looking For
* Strong experience in IT & Operations risk within financial services (banking/insurance ideal).
* Strong understanding of risk metrics, governance frameworks, and risk management methodologies.
* Experience working across all three lines of defence.
* Proven track record in building risk reporting frameworks and implementing controls.
* Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
* Comfortable presenting to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
* Relevant risk or audit certifications (e.g., CISA, CISM, CISSP, CRISC) desirable but not essential.
