The Role & Key Responsibilities

The Role

We have an exciting Business Analysis career development opportunity in the Joint Surrey Police & Sussex Police Change Delivery Department to help us deliver our mission ‘Enabling Successful Change’.

This role will be primarily focussed on supporting the delivery of Phase Two of the Sussex Police Public Protection Review Programme, which aims to deliver a new Target Operating Model (TOM) for the department. Effective demand analysis for each of the teams, including the MASH, ViSOR and OCAT, will be key to designing a TOM that makes the best use of funding, technology, processes, estate and our staff to achieve the Force’s priorities. Benchmarking will also assist in identifying alternative models and good practise elsewhere in the country.

You may already be a Business Analyst or similar but applications will be considered from individuals who are able to demonstrate capability and have proven potential but as yet have little or no experience of performing a business analysis role or maybe already work in policing and are looking for a new career direction. There may be further opportunities on other programmes and at other locations in both Surrey and Sussex in future. We are open to secondments from internal candidates or partner agencies.

You will be provided with training to BCS Business Analysis Certification and beyond, as well as coached by a very supportive team to complete a portfolio leading to promotion to the next grade.

Key Responsibilities

Working under direction of the Project Manager and SRO, you will play a key part in shaping the programme.

Day-to-day duties and key responsibilities:

1. Establish requirements gathering, working with stakeholders to gather needs and help them define deliverable goals and document them in a clear and concise manner.
2. Work collaboratively with business areas, IT data teams and corporate teams in identifying useful data sets to understand demand, performance metrics and efficiency.
3. Undertake demand analysis to support decision making that makes the most efficient and effective use of resources
4. Undertake benchmarking to identify good practise and alternative operating models for consideration
5. Use data and analysis to identify root causes of business problems and opportunities.
6. Design and develop scorecards and tracking frameworks to help measure change benefits and efficiencies.
7. Support solution development and option evaluation, considering feasibility, impact, and value for money.

Skills & Experience

8. Able to demonstrate capability and/or work experience in defining continuous improvements and involvement in successful change
9. Excellent communication and engagement skills with the ability to form and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including developing collaborative approaches within an organisation
10. Excellent analytical, mathematical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail and the ability to think laterally and identify innovative solutions and/or process improvements
11. Highly customer focussed with a good understanding of the organisation’s goals and objectives and an excellent team worker with a commitment to deliver results
12. Able to manipulate and analyse large data sets successfully in MS Excel
13. Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Visio, PowerPoint and Word) and can demonstrate competency in using these applications
14. Ability to demonstrate high levels of integrity and professionalism, whilst dealing with confidential and sensitive information and working under pressure to tight deadlines
