Teacher of Computing job description

Position: Teacher of Computing/Computer Science

Full-time/part-time (option for some remote working) / Permanent

Closing date: Friday 10th October 2025

Interviews: w/c 13th October 2025

Start Date: November 2025 (or earlier)

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, inspirational Teacher of Computer Science who can create a dynamic and engaging learning environment where every student can reach their full potential. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher to join a school that is supportive and friendly, where pupils have excellent behaviour and attitude and class sizes are small (typically less than 8 pupils at KS4 and KS5). The school is committed to supporting your professional journey and balancing the needs of a busy workplace with your wellbeing. The working year is 175 days, including paid training days, and this post offers the option of teaching some lessons remotely. The postholder will be given a laptop for the duration of their time at the school.

Applications are welcomed from both experienced and newly qualified teachers. This permanent position is offered on a part or full-time basis.

Description

Computing is taught in a new and purpose-built teaching space and is supported by a technician. The teaching space is an outstanding learning space and includes a suite of iMacs and MIDI keyboards. As a practical subject, class sizes are kept low and are usually less than 8 pupils at KS4 and KS5. Computing is a timetabled curriculum subject from Year 1. Whilst there are opportunities to teach in the primary years, our priority is for a strong teacher to teach A-Level Computing and BTEC Information Technology Level 3.

All pupils from Year 5 are given a school Google Chromebook and this is used throughout their time at the school. The Google suite of Apps is used to support teaching and learning across the school. iMACs are also used for the teaching of Computing and some BTECs.
