People Manager
Job Description:
Reporting directly to the Plant Manager; the purpose of this role is to provide a professional generalist People Advisory service to Managers and Staff on site. You will ensure that the People processes are legally compliant and in line with group policies and procedures; and support the business to attract, develop and retain colleagues. With a personable approach and a passion for providing exceptional service, you'll play a frontline role within our Operational and People team.
Job Responsibilities:
- Be the first point of contact for People queries
- Coordinate and support with confidential employee administration - Guiding management on employee relations, performance management and absence management, including managing long-term absence cases - Support with case management, including note taking and providing professional People advice during formal processes such as absence reviews, investigations, disciplinary and grievance meetings - Preparation of formal letters/contracts for new and existing employees - Manage the internal time and attendance system and Work Day platform, ensuring managers are effectively using the payroll systems - Support with end-to-end recruitment, selection and the on boarding process - Responsible for internal and external audit preparation and ensuring compliance with all People and legal processes and documentation - Promote good communication practices, employee engagement and wellbeing activities - Engage with local Trade Union representatives to facilitate good employee and industrial relations - Support the management team and UK People team with ad-hoc duties and project work when required
Skills Required:
- Experience working in a People Generalist position where absolute discretion dealing with confidential matters is paramount - Strong People advisory and coaching abilities - Previous experience using SAP HR, SAP Time and Attendance and Workday would be advantageous - Experience working in a similar fast paced role / environment - Working knowledge of Microsoft Packages, Word, PowerPoint and Excel - Excellent interpersonal skills - Well organised with an ability to prioritise, multi task and work under pressure, with the ability to work on your own initiative and have previous experience with dealing and supporting a variety of stakeholders
