Production & Workshop Controller Port Talbot Permanent We’re working with a well-established, high-performing FMCG manufacturing business in Port Talbot who are looking to strengthen their engineering team with the addition of a Mechanical Engineer. This is a hands-on, shift-based role where you’ll play a key part in keeping production running efficiently, minimising downtime, where you'll be joining a fast-paced environment in which engineers are trusted to take ownership, think proactively, and respond quickly to challenges on site. Shift Pattern This role operates on a Panama (Continental) shift pattern, rotating between days and nights: 2 on, 2 off 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off Alternating weekly between days and nights This offers a strong work-life balance with regular extended time off. Benefits: Salary £47,000 including shift allowance 24 days holidays plus 8 bank holidays. You will need to keep 3 days of holiday aside for a 2 week Christmas shutdown Structured shift pattern with regular time off Stable and established manufacturing environment Opportunity to join a well-supported engineering team Role with real responsibility and impact on production performance Company Pension Free on-site Parking Role Responsibilities: Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across site machinery Responding to mechanical breakdowns quickly and effectively to minimise downtime Diagnosing faults and implementing robust, long-term fixes Supporting continuous improvement by identifying recurring issues and suggesting solutions Maintaining accurate maintenance records and reports Ensuring all work is completed in line with health & safety and site compliance standards Working closely with production and other departments to keep operations running smoothly Essential Skills & Experience: MUST have at least an NVQ Level 3/ City & Guilds Level 3 or HNC/ HND in Mechanical Engineering Must have proven experience of working within a mechanical maintenance role within a manufacturing environment Strong background in breakdown response and fault finding Knowledge of pneumatics and diagnostics A hands-on approach with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team Comfortable working in a fast-paced, production-driven environment Good communication skills with the ability to liaise across departments If you are interested and have the relevant experience, please apply with an up-to-date copy of your CV.
