Overall Objective
Responsible for supporting the Management Team and supervising the yard team to ensure the efficient running of the yard function, supporting the smooth operation of the yard and to ensure sales are delivered on time and with minimum disruption, in line with standard operating practices and HSE requirements.
To maximise the sales and margin potential of the branch in line with the agreed business objectives and to control all aspects of the operation including delivery vehicle usage.
Responsibility for supervising the yard team, including ensuring the administration, coordination and movements of vehicles meets customer and internal Company requirements at all times
Job Description:
A Yard Supervisor will be expected to perform any of the following tasks:
* Assist the Manager in delivering the budgeted sales and margin targets as a minimum.
* Assist the Manager in controlling the stock at the agreed levels and ensuring that the core range is always available.
* Ensure accurate checking on all stock deliveries.
* Ensure high standards of yard / warehouse security.
* Ensure all the relevant vehicle and FLT safety checks are carried out and correctly documented with defects reported immediately.
* Assist the Manager is reducing costs within the business.
* Ensure the efficient use of the delivery vehicles and that the correct procedures are adhered to in respect of the dispatch paperwork and cash collection.
* Ensure customer service is delivered to a consistently high standard.
* Ensure the Branch presentational standards are maintained at a high standard.
* Assist in maintaining the Health & Safety policy and ensuring that it is always observed.
* Other reasonable duties as arising, as specified by the Branch Manager.
Education/Qualifications/Experience: Must have a good level of written and spoken English. Previous experience is essential and proven supervisory skills with relevant product knowledge preferred, ideally gained within a similar industry. Fork lift experience and knowledge of transport legislation desirable.
