Working for the Industrial Leader the role function is to implement production improvements within the manufacturing department, utilising Lean Principles in line with quality and technical procedures.

Job Description
Purpose
* Working for the Industrial Leader the role function is to implement production improvements within the manufacturing department, utilising Lean Principles in line with quality and technical procedures.
* Provide innovative solutions to reduce manufacturing costs and improve safety within the factory environment.
* To undertake planning, implementation, and execution of major improvement projects (Capex).
Primary Scope
* Introduce changes to factory layout, Tooling, and methods of working.
* To execute production process to secure on time delivery for production with respect to technical drawings, quality instructions, standard times, and equipment specification.
* Maintain and update records for existing equipment and replace as necessary to maintain company asset register.
* Manage projects from conception to completion including realisation of proposed benefits with all relevant documentation.
* Comply with GE LSP.
* To create specifications to allow tendering process to be completed ensuring value for money.
* Successfully manage contractors working on projects from pre assessment through to onsite completion and handover.
* Update and maintain process documentation for production tasks and equipment.
* Support business Continuous Improvement initiative when requested.
* Comply with all business policies and procedures that may affect Quality, Health, Safety Environment
* Implement and follow up on EHS activities to ensure compliance with regulations.
* Any other reasonable duties within individuals’ capabilities
Responsibilities
* Industrial Engineers provide solutions such as tooling, equipment, specifications and training for manufacturing to enable a stable production schedule.
* This role is vital to coordinate between engineering, manufacturing and procurement forming a key part of the successful manufacturing of transformers on time, failure can cost the business £100,000’s,
Duties
* Implement production improvements within manufacturing to reduce costs and improve lead times.
* Attend design reviews and identify possible production issues that require solving.
* Support manufacturing to enable adequate equipment and tooling are available as requested.
* Provide innovative health and safety solutions.
* Participate in Lean events to improve the business.
Skill Set
* Team player, proactive forward thinker ability to provide innovative solutions to production problems.
* Excellent communicator.
* Experience of production engineering environment.
* Engineering qualification HNC / HND.
* Good organizational skills capable of working under pressure to time constraints.
* CAD proficient.
Successful candidate may be required to attend further in house training and external courses to achieve the required level of technical and practical competence.
Lichfield Road manufacturing facility has been originally established in 1903 and has been standing since 1960 as a part of English Electric group, delivering power transformers, that later merged GEC Alsthom and later became ALSTOM, and has been acquired by GE in 2015. Stafford is ideally suited for research and advanced manufacturing with our highly skilled staff and position at the heart of the UK's transport network. GE is proud to be the largest employer in Stafford, with around 1,700 employees across multiple sites.
The transformer facility has been renowned all over the world with its expertise in design, manufacturing, and delivery of HVAC and HVDC transformers world-wide, up to 800kV.
