Wastewater & Bio Resources Business Manager

Join Thames Water as the Wastewater & Bio Resources Business Manager. This senior role within the Wastewater & Bioresources Operations Team acts as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to the Wastewater & Bioresources Director, helping shape and deliver initiatives with impact across the business.

This pivotal role provides leadership, oversight, and coordination across key initiatives, ensuring the Director’s time and focus are directed toward the highest-value opportunities. The ideal candidate will be proactive, resourceful, adaptable, and able to demonstrate resilience, sound judgement, and emotional intelligence.


What will you be doing as the Wastewater & Bio Resources Business Manager

* Strategic Partnership: Provide insight, counsel, and support to the Director on critical business decisions and priorities.
* Leadership Coordination: Align and coordinate across the Wastewater & Bioresources leadership team, acting as a central point of contact for senior stakeholders.
* Project Oversight: Lead the planning and execution of strategic initiatives and cross-functional projects.
* Governance & Meetings: Facilitate leadership and governance forums, set agendas, drive accountability, and track actions.
* Insight & Influence: Deliver high-quality analysis, reports, and briefings to support decision-making.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships internally and externally, occasionally representing the Director at key engagements.
* Team Support: Provide operational and strategic support to the leadership team, promoting a culture of performance and collaboration.


Working hours

36 hours a week, Monday to Friday.


Base location

Clearwater Court in Reading, Berkshire, with flexibility required as travel across the Thames Water estate will be essential and frequent.


What should you bring to the role?

The essential criteria to help you succeed in this role are:

* Be a strategic thinker with proven experience in a senior advisory or leadership role (e.g. management consulting, strategy, operations, or senior executive support).
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage at all levels.
* Be collaborative and approachable, with a natural ability to build trust and credibility.
* Exceptional organisational and time management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities.
* Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
* Proven track record of managing complex projects and delivering results.
* Valid UK driver’s licence and use of a car for business purposes.


Additional skills and experiences would be great to have

* Experience within the Water Sector
* Familiarity with governance, compliance, and board-level reporting.

What’s in it for you?

* Salary between £55,000 & £75,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
* 26 days holiday per year, increasing to 30 with length of service (plus bank holidays).
