Junior Java Software Developer
Location: Frimley – Hybrid working (1‑2 days per week onsite).
As a Java Developer in BAE Systems AI, you’ll work with our international customers to enhance and maintain cutting‑edge national security products, and build exciting new capabilities. The work is fast‑paced and at times challenging, but the benefits are tangible and real. You will be exposed to new approaches, technology, and ideas, so a willingness to step out of your comfort zone is a must.
BAE Systems AI values high‑performing agile teams. Team play, self‑motivation, responsibility, and a desire for continuous improvement are key attributes for success. International travel may be required a few times a year to support deployed systems and meet end users. Good communication skills are essential.
Essential Skills and Experience
* At least 2 years of professional software development using Java.
* Minimum 1 year developing microservices using Spring Boot.
* Experience writing tests for existing and new code to ensure compatibility and stability.
* Experience with source control (preferably Git), continuous integration, test‑driven development, and Agile delivery of software.
* Ability to work well within small teams, taking ownership and delivering high‑quality software.
* Proficiency with Apache Maven.

* Elasticsearch

* Apache Hadoop, Kafka or Camel
* JavaScript
* Knowledge of both Windows and Linux operating systems
* Kubernetes
* Nifi
* NSQ
* Apache Ignite
