Overview
Smith+Naphew is looking for a manufacturing and digital transformation internship. The program runs for one year from September2026 and places you fully embedded within our Operational Technology and manufacturing teams, supporting the digitisation of our Hull and Melton sites.
Responsibilities
* Embed within Operational Technology and manufacturing teams and work on real projects that support the digital transformation of our Hull and Melton sites.
* Spend time on the factory floor to understand processes, challenges and opportunities first hand.
* Support the delivery of our digitisation and Operational Technology programme, contributing to Manufacturing4.0 initiatives such as Industrial Internet of Things, production monitoring and data‑driven improvement.
* Build and support digital applications using low‑code tools such as Tulip and PowerBI, helping to create interactive work instructions, capture operational data and improve visibility of performance.
* Work closely with engineers, operations teams, IT, data analytics and operational excellence colleagues, giving you a broad view of how different functions collaborate to deliver safe, efficient and high quality manufacturing.
Qualifications
* Completion of at least two years of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline and the ability to consider a year in industry placement from September2026.
* Interest in manufacturing systems, digital technology and data‑driven improvement.
* Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with a range of stakeholders.
* Proactive mindset and willingness to learn new tools and ways of working.
