As a Project Controls Lead at Northrop Grumman you will be responsible for overseeing the project controls team, ensuring the operation of effective project controls across the entire portfolio. You will foster a culture of excellence within the project controls team and implement robust project controls to mitigate risks, enhance profitability, and ensure successful project delivery. You will shape and embed departmental procedures to ensure the maintenance, execution and control of project performance measurement baselines within a robust project controls environment to deliver best value to our customers.

Responsibilities
* Lead, manage and coach the project controls team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture, with clear performance expectations, feedback and development opportunities.
* Lead continuous improvement of project controls operations within the department, including scheduling, cost estimating and control, resourcing and analysis of project data to provide credible management information for decision making.
* Lead the application of Earned Value Management System (EVMS) performance standards, preferably to ANSI or APM standards.
* Expert knowledge and application of Primavera P6, Deltek COBRA cost management system, and company ERP systems.
* Ensure departmental project controls outputs are delivered as required and that projects comply with departmental standards.
* Support bid activity within the department, ensuring credible plans, estimates and risk profiles are included within proposals.
* Training, coaching and mentoring of project team members.
* Communicate effectively with a range of external and internal stakeholders at all levels and functions.

We are looking for
* Significant demonstrable Project Controls, Planning and/or Cost Management experience in defence or other regulated industries, managing controls throughout the project lifecycle.
* Strong awareness of commercial operations and/or prime contract experience, ideally in an SSRO QSC/CAAS reporting environment.
* Expert knowledge and application of EVMS processes within an EVM system.
* Expert user of Oracle Primavera P6.
* Significant experience with cost management and finance systems.
* A strong disposition for maintaining project-wide adherence to processes and procedures, even in challenging circumstances.
* Providing training and/or mentoring within a cohesive team environment.
* Excellent communication (written and verbal) and listening skills, with the ability to persuade and influence senior leadership.
* Professional qualifications in project management or control disciplines and/or membership of a related professional organisation (e.g., MAPM, ChPP, PMP).
* Security level SC UK (UK eyes only – single UK Nationality) or the ability to gain it.
Security clearance
You must be able to gain and maintain the relevant UK Government security clearance in line with the job role (SC).
