Permanent, Full Time. Hours: 37.5 hours per week. Monday – Saturday rota, working shifts between 5am – 5pm. In this role, you will provide high-quality diagnostic laboratory services, applying your specialist knowledge and technical skills to ensure the accurate and timely analysis of animal samples. By delivering reliable results, you will play a key part in supporting the health and wellbeing of animals. * Analyse blood samples using advanced laboratory instruments including: ADVIA 2120i, Beckman AU5800, Immulite 2000 XPi, Horriba Yumizen G800, Clinitek Novus/Aimstrip, and CellaVision DM9600.
* Carry out routine analyser setup, calibration, and maintenance.
* Perform blood smear morphology assessments both digitally (CellaVision) and on glass slides.
* Perform urolith analysis.
* Carry out serology testing using lateral flow test (LFT) devices and immunoassays.
* Read, understand, and adhere to all relevant SOP, H&S and QA guidelines.
* Maintain strict compliance with quality control standards to ensure accurate and reliable results.
* Assist with inventory management, ensuring adequate stock of reagents and consumables.
Responsibilities
* Conduct blood analysis and related diagnostics in a timely and accurate manner.
* Adhere to SOPs, H&S and QA guidelines in all tasks.
* Support inventory management and resource availability.
Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in a Science-related field (e.g., Biomedical Science, Biochemistry).
* Proven experience working in a relevant laboratory setting.
* Skills in morphological assessment of normal and abnormal blood smears, including RBC, WBC, and platelet morphology, manual differentials of WBCs and identification of parasites and intracellular bacteria is highly desired.
* Hands-on experience with automated analysers, including setup and maintenance.
* Previous experience in serology testing, including immunoassays (ELISA, IFA).
* Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently.
* Highly organised, with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
* Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving demands of the business.
