Herdsperson (200 Cows) – North Essex Coast - £35,000 + Accommodation + Council Tax
The Job:
A progressive and forward thinking dairy farm on the North Essex coast is seeking a dedicated Herdsperson with a genuine passion for working with cows. The farm is located just one mile from a local village, with primary and secondary schools, shops and pubs nearby. The area offers a scenic coastline and convenient access to larger towns and London.
The herd consists of 200 Holstein cows, milked twice daily through a 32 point rapid exit parlour equipped with ADF, auto ID, and separation technology. The unit uses CowManager and Uniform systems to support herd management. Cows are block calved in the summer, cubicle housed and TMR fed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Milking (essential experience required)
- Assisting the Herd Manager with daily operations
- Maintaining high standards of hygiene and attention to detail
- Calving and ensuring cow and calf health
- Administering vaccinations and treatments
- AI and foot trimming (preferred, training available)
- Working both independently and as part of a team
- Reliable timekeeping
The Package:
- Salary £35,000 per annum DOE
- Recently renovated three-bedroom house on-site
- Council tax covered
- 28 days paid annual leave
- Workplace pension scheme
- 55–60 hours per week
- Every other weekend off
- Five day working week with two days off during the week

Candidate Requirements
All applicants must hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2, Scottish NVQ Level 2, or an equivalent qualification relevant to the role applied for. Candidates must also have the legal right to work in the UK or hold a valid visa permitting employment.
