HSE Regulatory Solicitor / Associate – This expanding regulatory department deals with a broad range of matters from traditional Health & Safety matters to Corporate Manslaughter. The team handles complex work including highly sensitive cases and often ground-breaking events representing a number of top corporates across numerous sectors.

The work done in this team is second-to-none and is led by industry recognised health and safety lawyers with a wealth of experience in addressing complex, multi-jurisdictional challenges. As a Solicitor in this team, you will have the opportunity to gain exposure to once in a lifetime work that will set you apart from other lawyers in this field. The firm are currently in process of dealing with a significant corporate manslaughter case in a highly regulated and evolving area of law.
The team has also been involved in well documented matters including:
* Environment Agency enforcement action
* Appeals of a Statutory Notice
* Defending corporate manslaughter charges following the collapse of a boiler house at a power station
Preferred regulatory skillset though potential for retrain
The nature of the work can involve everything from inquests and criminal hearings to advising clients on compliance and regulatory strategy.
Ideally you will already have some exposure to regulatory work and be looking to build on that experience. In particular, the successful applicant will be expected to:
* Review and analyse prosecution evidence considering implications for client;
* Review client evidence and provide summary for experienced solicitors including Partners;
* Liaise with Court and the Coroner's Office as well as CQC, Police and Health and Safety Executive as well as any other relevant regulator;
* Instruct experts where necessary and summarise expert evidence;
* Draft written submissions’;
* Liaising with Insured re Prosecution's case and disclosure required;
* Organising and attending conferences & meetings, drafting note of discussion and following agreed strategy following lead lawyer’s strategy;
* Attend interviews under caution;
* Review of medical records, post mortem reports and other relevant evidence including CCTV footage;
* Investigative research into insured such as analysing corporate structure, their procedures, risk assessment process and any other relevant information;
