Overview
St.Helens Council recognises and values the contribution Occupational Therapists make to enabling children with disabilities to live as independently as possible in their homes and the community. Occupational Therapy Services play a key role in the strategy for integration of health and social care across the Borough. The Occupational Therapy Team are based in Contact Cares as part of St Helens Cares with the role of delivery of an integrated equipment and adaptation service.
Responsibilities
* Provide leadership as Lead Paediatric Occupational Therapist, including supervision and development of junior staff and OT assistants.
* Responsible for the provision of specialist equipment and adaptations to promote independence for children with disabilities who have complex needs.
* Support service development and contribute to the ongoing improvement of the integrated equipment and adaptation service.
* Apply specialist knowledge of complex physical and cognitive disabilities to assess and meet equipment and major adaptation needs.
* Utilise up-to-date moving and handling techniques and demonstrate good IT skills; promote continuing professional development.
Qualifications
* HCPC registered
* Specialist knowledge of children with disabilities; ability to work under pressure
* Interest in developing skills working with children with disabilities with complex needs
* Experience in provision of equipment and major adaptations
* Knowledge of moving and handling techniques; good IT skills
