TwinklHive is the venture arm of Twinkl Educational Publishing. We are a strategic investor based in Sheffield providing funding, services and support to early-stage mission-driven businesses across the UK and internationally, predominantly focusing on supporting education businesses.
This is a dynamic position that merges strategic portfolio management with hands-on investment management. In this role, you would be responsible for overseeing two distinct portfolios: one focused on educational investments strategically aligned to Twinkl, and the other being a sector-agnostic portfolio. Additionally, you will actively manage the investment process
Managing the investment application process is a critical function for TwinklHive. As the lead, you will guide applicants through the different stages of our process including the completion of comprehensive due diligence and legal negotiations.
To effectively manage both portfolios you will be responsible for overseeing and enhancing a resilient system for monitoring each company's performance. This will include tracking key performance indicators, evaluating financial metrics, and assessing overall growth performance. This extensive process will enable informed decision-making for follow on funding opportunities.
In addition to monitoring both portfolios, the TwinklHive Manager will be a strategic sounding board to the companies and offer support to founders as they persevere on their journey. This position demands an experienced professional with the ability to navigate and advise on the startup lifecycle.
In this role you will:
* Handle inbound enquiries and applications for investment. Taking applicants through the different stages of our process, preparing information for senior leader review and providing applicants with updates on their progress.
* Source applications through networking and building relationships with relevant investors and sources to maintain healthy deal flow.
* Have a good understanding of Twinkl’s group strategy to influence Hive’s investment strategy.
* Assist with the modelling of deal structures and supporting with deal execution.
* Handle portfolio company requests and ensure company documentation is up to date
* Liaise with our finance team to gain a holistic view of how each company is performing
Typically, we expect you to:
* Be commercially astute and ability to work with entrepreneurial investee companies, demonstrating an understanding of early stage investment and the challenges faced by early stage companies.
* Be an effective communicator both verbal and written and be able to influence decision making.
* Be able to prioritise in a dynamic environment, be well organised, and able to work autonomously.
* Be able to manage stakeholder expectations and build relationships with key contacts;
* Be self-motivated and flexible to get the job done
Working with:
Working alongside Rebecca Stott, Twinkl’s VP of Education, you will develop and implement TwinklHive’s strategy for educational investments to ensure they are aligned with Twinkl's strategic objectives. You will also work closely with Pat Luker, Twinkl’s Head of M&A, to identify acquisition targets within the educational portfolio for the Twinkl Group. You will work closely with Charlotte Gibbins, Hive’s Management Accountant, to review the portfolio’s financial position including a comprehensive review encompassing each individual company's cash flow management, budgeting and compliance adherence.
Requirements
We're interested in anyone who meets one, or a combination of the following:
* Commercial knowledge or practical working with investment portfolios or start up businesses
* The ability to build relationships with investee company founders and their teams.
* Experience using Google Suite
* Strong communication and negotiation skills, to manage expectations
* Positive and outgoing who is willing to grow within the role and the company
