Protocol Education is working with a welcoming primary school in Gateshead to recruit a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils within a specialist SEND provision. About the role:
You’ll be supporting a small group of pupils with additional needs, including autism, ADHD, and communication difficulties.
What your day-to-day will look like:
No two days are the same — but every day is rewarding.
You’ll:
* Work closely with pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis
* Support learning through adapted activities and resources
* Help pupils regulate emotions and navigate the school day
* Assist with routines, transitions, and classroom engagement
* Build strong, trusting relationships with the children you support
You’ll become a consistent, supportive presence — someone pupils rely on.
What we’re looking for:
* A patient, caring, and adaptable individual
* Strong ability to build rapport with children
* Interest in SEND and supporting additional needs
* Resilience and a positive attitude
Working hours:
* Monday to Friday
* 8:30am – 3:30pm
* Full-time, term-time only

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
