Social Worker – Children in Care, South Essex
Location: Basildon. Full‑time, 37 hours per week. Salary £37,185 to £50,081 per annum. Working style: community‑based worker. Permanent position.
About the Role
As part of the Children and Families team you will deliver professional, evidence‑based support to children and families, including early help, family support and effective social work interventions.
* Deliver reflective supervision and support to colleagues.
* Build resilience and remove barriers for children and young people.
* Provide life‑story work and permanency planning such as Special Guardianship Order (SGO) and adoption.
* Support children in transition leaving care or returning home.
* Collaborate with partners to promote the development and wellbeing of children, young people and their families.
* Protect children and families from neglect and abuse.
Qualifications
* Diploma or degree in social work, CQSW, CSS or equivalent.
* Registration with Social Work England as a registered Social Worker.
* Demonstrable capability of practice in accordance with current professional standards (e.g. PCF, KSS).
* Case recording skills.
* Ability to apply social work knowledge, emotional intelligence, analytical skills and act with confidence in challenging social and family situations.
* Good working knowledge of information technology and related systems (e.g. Word, SW case recording systems).
* Required to work flexibly as necessary, including evenings and weekends.
Requirements
Must be mobile throughout Essex and beyond, capable of transporting service users and their belongings in emergencies. A driving licence and own car or alternative mobility arrangements are essential.
