They are seeking a highly skilled Rotary or Fixed Wing Flight Test Engineering Instructor to join their team at Amesbury, Salisbury, working with advanced aviation systems alongside some of the most experienced professionals in the industry.
The Role
As a Flight Test Engineering Instructor, you will apply your multi‑platform flight test expertise to deliver world‑class training to aspiring flight test professionals. Your instructional capability both in the classroom and during selected airborne activities will play a crucial role in developing the next generation of Test Pilots and Flight Test Engineers.
Working within an established team of Flight Test Engineering Instructors (FTEIs), Test Pilot Instructors (TPIs), and Theoretical Knowledge Instructors (TKIs), you will contribute to an environment centred on collaboration, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver and develop high‑quality long‑course and short‑course ground training, as well as selected in‑flight instructional activities either rotary or fixed wing platforms.
Assess and grade ETPS student flying, provide detailed feedback and mentoring, and support safe, effective learning progression.
Contribute to the evolution, modernisation, and continuous improvement of ETPS syllabuses and teaching methodologies.
Essential Experience
Broad and extensive experience within the flight test community across rotary‑wing and/or fixed‑wing aircraft.
Ability to deliver ground‑based instruction and provide in‑air instructional support alongside TPIs.
Strong capability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to students from a wide range of nationalities and backgrounds.
In‑depth knowledge of aircraft systems, performance, and stability & control, along with associated test procedures.
Proficiency in the use of software tools for flight test data analysis and reporting.
Experience with the UK MoD's Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT).
Essential Qualifications
Graduate Flight Test Engineer (Rotary or Fixed Wing) from one of the four UK MoD recognised Test Pilot Schools: ETPS, USNTPS, USAFTPS, or EPNER (or equivalent).
A strong experience as a LFTE or equivalent on major modern test programmes.
Medically fit to obtain a CAA Class 1 Medical.My client welcomes applicants from diverse backgrounds who can demonstrate the required level of expertise and a commitment to excellence.
Location
37 hours per week
Based at Amesbury, Salisbury
Travel to other client and customer sites may be required
