Job description:
1. General Description:
The Fitter's Mate spends the working day on the road helping the Senior Fitter to install, maintain and repair a mix of industrial and domestic door/shutter systems on industrial, commercial and residential properties. All tools, equipment, protective equipment, vehicles and fuel are supplied. Cooks are committed to developing employees' skills and promoting from within wherever possible, so if the Fitter's Mate is dedicated and hardworking he or she may have the opportunity to become a Senior Fitter. The Fitter's Mate will be required to work beyond 40hrs when necessary.
Responsibilities:
· Assist with the installation, repair and maintenance of roller shutters, security grilles, access door sets and manual/powered domestic garage doors
· Carry out the work allocated to them by either their manager or the Senior Fitter
· Correctly interpret manufacturers' engineering drawings, information, specifications and installation instructions
· Develop effective professional relationships with both customers and colleagues
· Be punctual and presentable
· Follow all health and safety requirements
Minimum Qualifications
· GCSE minimum grade D in English and Maths (or equivalent)
Desirable:
· Vocational qualifications in electrical, mechanical and/or carpentry disciplines
Required:
· Full and clean UK driver's licence (held for minimum of 1 Year)

· A hands-on and technical aptitude
· Enthusiastic and intuitive
· Good listening and problem solving skills
· Good verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to use hand and power tools correctly and safely
· Ability to be able to lift heavy materials and work at height
· Comfortable with working on all types of premises from busy construction sites to single residential properties
