Residential Support Worker

Location: Sandwell, Oldbury & Cradley Heath

Salary: £13.00 to £14.00 per hour (based on experience) from 30 to 40 hours per week, plus £55 per night for sleep-in shifts. Overtime opportunities available.

We are looking for compassionate and dedicated Residential Support Workers to join our team in supporting children and young people in our residential home. This is a rewarding role where you'll provide care, guidance, and encouragement to help young people achieve their potential, develop independence, and feel secure in a nurturing environment.

Your Role and Responsibilities

As a Residential Support Worker, you will:

Provide Exceptional Care:

* Create a safe, therapeutic, and nurturing environment for young people.
* Support daily routines, including cooking, shopping, laundry, and household tasks.
* Promote the welfare, personal development, and independence of the young people in your care.

Encourage Personal Growth:

* Work restoratively with young people to help them overcome challenges.
* Teach and model life skills to prepare them for independent living.
* Support their education by working closely with schools and attending educational meetings.

Ensure Safety and Wellbeing:

* Administer medication according to health practitioners' instructions and care plans.
* Respond to and de-escalate challenging behaviors, using approved behavior management techniques when necessary.
* Safeguard the physical, emotional, and psychological needs of the young people.

Promote Inclusion and Equality:

* Actively challenge discriminatory behaviour and uphold anti-discrimination policies.
* Foster an environment of equal opportunities for all young people.

Communication and Collaboration:

* Maintain detailed and accurate written records of young people's progress.
* Attend handovers, team meetings, and supervisions to ensure consistent and effective care.
* Collaborate with colleagues, families, and external professionals to achieve the best outcomes for young people.

Transportation and Community Engagement:

* Drive young people to appointments, school, or family visits (which may include long-distance travel).
* Build positive relationships with local residents and the broader community.

Professional Development:

* Commit to completing the Level 3 Diploma in Caring for Children and Young People in Residential Care.
* Participate in training programs to enhance skills and meet regulatory standards.

What We're Looking For

* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Previous experience working with children or individuals with additional needs (preferred but not essential).
* Ability to handle challenging behaviors with empathy and professionalism.

Qualifications:

* A full UK driver's license (essential).
* Willingness to complete the Level 3 Diploma if not already achieved.
