Building Control Interim Lead

North Northamptonshire Council is seeking an experienced Building Control Interim Lead to provide strategic and operational leadership for its Building Control service during a critical period of change.
This senior interim role will lead and manage the council’s Building Control service across North Northamptonshire, ensuring full compliance with Building Safety legislation and Building Safety Regulator (BSR) requirements. You will be responsible for service delivery, quality assurance, financial and performance management, and leading the implementation of key initiatives including the Building Safety Levy.
Working closely with the Assistant Director of Regulatory Services, you’ll play a key role in driving service improvement, digital transformation, income generation, and market share growth, whilst providing expert professional advice to Members, senior officers, partners, and external stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading the operational delivery of the Building Control service
* Ensuring compliance with all statutory Building Control and Building Safety requirements
* Implementing and maintaining BSR-compliant quality assurance frameworks
* Leading service marketing, income generation and market growth strategies
* Managing performance, risk, budgets, and medium-term financial planning
* Leading and developing Building Control, technical and business support teams
* Representing the council with partners, contractors, and regulators
Assignment details:
* 3 months initially
* Start ASAP
* £600 - 800/ Day
* Inside IR35
* Standard 37 hours per week

* Must be able to drive and travel across North Northamptonshire
About you: You will be a senior Building Control professional with extensive experience leading Building Control or Building Surveying services within local government. You’ll be a registered Building Inspector with the Building Safety Regulator and bring strong leadership, commercial, regulatory, and change management experience.
