Job Description Senior Technical Support Engineer - Hybrid The Senior Technical Support role is part of our specialist Applications Delivery team, a group of dedicated technical professionals committed to delivering reliable IT services that directly support policing operations through the maintenance of robust, high-availability systems. As a Senior Technical Support specialist, you will focus on the operation and support of Oracle ERP systems, along with a range of related business applications. Your responsibilities will include responding to user queries, monitoring system performance, documenting support procedures, supporting system upgrades and maintenance activities, and contributing to ongoing service improvement initiatives. This is a hybrid working role, offering flexibility with the option to collaborate in person with your wider team a couple of times per week. Key Responsibilities Deliver end-to-end technical support for Oracle ERP systems, ensuring stability, performance, and business continuity. Lead and support the provisioning, development, and solution design of IT services in line with organisational needs. Perform installation and configuration of applications and systems, ensuring optimal setup for reliability and efficiency. Proactively monitor services, manage assessments, and implement preventative measures to minimise disruptions. Diagnose and resolve technical faults efficiently, maintaining high standards of service availability and user satisfaction. Manage system upgrades and patch deployments, ensuring minimal downtime and alignment with change management best practices. Actively contribute to project teams by consulting on technical solutions and offering expert recommendations throughout the development and implementation lifecycle. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to foster collaboration and improve service outcomes. Ensure all applications and services meet professional standards of quality, performance, security, and compliance. Skills & Experience Proven experience supporting Oracle systems, including ERP platforms—covering patch management, system upgrades, and driving continuous service improvement initiatives. Minimum of 3 years working in a professional IT environment, with hands-on involvement in technical support or infrastructure roles. Strong technical acumen with a deep understanding of computing technologies—going beyond typical end-user knowledge to deliver effective troubleshooting and system insights. Experience with a range of relevant technologies, including cloud platforms, Windows Server environments, end-user computing devices, system administration tools, and complex business-critical applications. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a track record of working collaboratively across teams and building strong professional relationships. A proactive and resourceful approach to problem-solving, with the ability to anticipate issues and implement effective solutions. Highly organised, with a structured and methodical approach to managing workloads and competing priorities. Additional Information Driving licence : There will be occasions when you are required to travel around the force area therefore the successful person will need to hold a full UK driving licence.
