The closing date is 14 May 2026

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a physiotherapist to join the Carlisle and District ICC which provides admission prevention, supported discharge, specialist assessment and rehabilitation for patients with a wide range of long and short-term conditions. We work closely with our health and social care colleagues for care and advice, as well as working closely with Brampton Community Hospital to provide flow and discharge support.

The post is a 12 month fixed term contract for 30 hours per week.

The successful candidate will need to be motivated and able to demonstrate excellent assessment and communication skills as well as good team working.

The ICC currently offer a 7 day service with the hours between 8am-8pm with flexible shift patterns.

Interviews will only take place face to face in Carlisle, please ensure you would be able to attend this.

Main duties of the job

Carlisle and District ICC demonstrates fantastic multidisciplinary team working by providing rehabilitation alongside rapid response care. You will work particularly with frailty patients, those who are at risk of or who have fallen and for patients with long term conditions.

You will need to have excellent communication skills, be able to demonstrate the ability to work in challenging environments and be committed to working autonomously, providing evidence based assessment, treatment and rehabilitation.

This post offers the chance to develop clinical, supervisory and managerial skills. We support the education of physiotherapy students from local Universities and you should be able to demonstrate commitment to your own and other's professional development.

We work closely with Commissioners, GPs, Acute Services, Community hospitals, CHOC, Cumbria County Council Adult Social Care and third sector organisations. A key focus is to provide care in patient\'s own homes to prevent hospital admissions, facilitate early discharge and where possible to enable patients to manage their own conditions and remain in their own homes, enhancing both their independence and quality of life.

Patients can be seen as in-patients (in Community Hospital beds or Interim Community beds) or in patient\'s own homes (including residential and nursing homes), the job will cover both areas with the main base being Hilltop Heights.
