Salisbury Medical Practice is looking to recruit a committed, caring and highly motivated Pharmacist (Maternity Cover) to join our well-established Medical Practice
We are looking for someone who is a qualified and competent Pharmacist and desirably an independent non-medical prescriber (although this is not essential). Applicants must have excellent organisational and communications skills as well as a high level of competency using computers. The successful candidate will have the ability to liaise with staff at all levels and work effectively as part of a team. A strong commitment to personal and professional development and teamwork are essential for this role.
This is a fixed term 12-month position for between 16-20 hours per week starting in July/August 2026 (however this is flexible). Desired hours can be discussed at interview. Applicants will have to undergo an enhanced DBS check, must be registered with the GPhC and must be eligible to work in the UK.
Main duties of the job
As a pharmacist, you will act autonomously within your professional boundaries to provide support to the GPs and the repeat prescribing team in all medicines management matters and in implementing effective medicine management within the Practice and identifying areas for improvement. The Pharmacist will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team along with fellow Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technician and will be in a patient facing role to clinically assess and treat patients using expert knowledge of medicines for specific disease areas.

Job responsibilities
Key Duties
To act as the first point of contact to provide specialist expert knowledge in the use of medicines and for all prescription queries and medication requests from staff and patients.
To undertake clinical medication reviews with patients where medicine optimisation is required to reduce waste and promote self-care.
To reconcile discharge summaries and medications for patients being discharged from hospital and/or moving into a care setting.
To be responsible for the care management of patients with chronic diseases and undertake medication reviews to proactively manage patients with complex poly-pharmacy (including but limited to the elderly, care home residents, co-morbidity patients etc.).
To implement changes to medicines that result from MHRA alerts, product withdrawal and other local and national guidance.
If an independent prescriber, to prescribe, monitor and review medication that is appropriate to patient needs and in accordance with latest evidence‑based practice, national and practice protocols and within the scope of qualified practice.
To undertake CPPE training as identified.
To ensure patient confidentiality, respect, and dignity is adhered to at all times.
Person Specification
Knowledge
* Demonstrate sufficient knowledge of the English language to communicate effectively with staff and patients
* Clinical computer systems SystmOne (TPP)
* Knowledge of NICE guidelines

* An understanding of prescribing budgets and financial information

Experience
* 2 years+ Trained Pharmacist Experience
* Experience in undertaking medication reviews

Qualifications
* Pharmacy Degree (or equivalent)
